(1999) investigated the mechanism controlling apoptosis in a B-cell lymphoma cell line stimulated by cross-linking membrane immunoglogulin (mIg) receptors. It was demonstrated that receptor cross-linking resulted in a high proportion of the cells binding annexin V but once the signal was removed the cells were shown to be viable and could resume growth and release annexin V from the cell surface indicating that phospholipid asymmetry across the membrane had been restored.
